My main interest lies in investigating the accuracy of diagnoses related to tropical rickettsioses, such as scrub typhus, murine typhus, and others. I am also pursuing a PhD dissertation related to this objective through comprehensive systematic reviews and meta-analyses. By collecting current evidence on the accuracy of existing diagnostic methods, my goal is to identify potential areas for improvement in these methods and propose strategies to optimize the diagnosis of rickettsial pathogens.
Previously, I focused on identifying knowledge gaps related to biosafety and biosecurity practices. Through this objective, I contributed my efforts to developing the Biosafety Research Roadmap for a range of priority pathogens, including Foot-and-mouth disease, Shigella spp., Mycobacterium tuberculosis, zoonotic avian influenza, SARS-CoV-2, Bacillus anthracis, Brucella melitensis, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, and Lassa fever. I am also interested in investigating the root causes of incidents involving Laboratory-Acquired Infections (LAIs) and accidental pathogen escape from laboratory settings (APELS).
