Tamalee Roberts is a Research Microbiologist working at the Lao-Oxford-Mahosot Hospital Wellcome Trust Research Unit (LOMWRU) in Vientiane, Laos. Tamalee has a degree in Biomedical Science, a masters in International Public Health and a PhD in Molecular Parasitology. She worked in clinical diagnostic microbiology and parasitology in Australia for 10 years before moving to Laos in 2016.
Tamalee currently works supporting the clinical microbiology laboratory at Mahosot Hospital assisting on routine procedures and the implementation of LQMS in lines with ISO 15189. Tamalee leads the Fleming Fund Lao country sub-grant, focusing on building laboratory capacity in Laos to improve antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance. She is also part of the laboratory team for A Clinically Oriented Antimicrobial Resistance Network (ACORN) and works on several other research projects including AMR, evaluation of diagnostics for LMICs, leishmaniasis and epidemiology of infectious diseases in Laos and the region. Tamalee has been a part of the Lao Pint of Science organisation committee since 2022.
