With a strong foundation in applied infectious diseases epidemiology, I have focused my career on combating malaria in the Greater Mekong Subregion, through the GenRe-Mekong project, a genetic surveillance initiative aimed at tracking drug-resistant Plasmodium falciparum strains.
Building on this expertise, my PhD research delves deeper into the evolutionary dynamics of Plasmodium falciparum. I am developing a novel method to systematically identify and label malaria lineages by integrating ancestry reconstruction and Identity by Descent (IBD) analysis. This approach promises to enhance our ability to track and understand the spread of malaria lineages and resistance patterns and ultimately to provide actionable insights for malaria elimination programs, reinforcing global efforts against this persistent public health challenge.
